Ein Rundgang

Marked by years of theoretically-informed class exhibitions, this year the department presents works developed by the students in their respective studio practices. We are leaning on the idea of a Rundgang. Instead of an overarching theme, the exhibition deals with how individual works can or cannot be hung connectedly.

With works by Raihana Akbary, Sophia Balog, Anne Francien van den Berg, Kaleb Christian, Frank Daubenfeld, Leonard Fendler-Moser, Yael Fidesser, Corinna Girschik, Adrian Hazi, Suzuka Hisamatsu, Deniz Amber Kınır, Richard Klippfeld, Dasha Kliui, Luise Knecht, Daniela Kuich, Oda Laura, Maya Calladine Lempelius, Luka Matuella, Chattip Metchanun, Eda Özkan, Ei Ozawa, Anzhelika Palyvoda, Leonie Plattner, Anna Romanova, Clara Rotermund, Sára Roth, Zoe Schuhmann, Naomi Shintani Deibel, Pol Summer, Evgeny Tantsurin, Selena Türgen, Hanna Schmidt, Marcia Schmidt, Sualah Tei E, Myrtó Typadis, Janina Weißengruber, Lisa Maria Wordcel, and Karim Youssef

Curated by Sophia Balog, Anne Francien van den Berg, Maya Calladine Lempelius, Luka Matuella, Daniela Kuich, Clara Rotermund, Sára Röth

Warp Painting

In the exhibition space warp painting works by students from the textile.art.design department of the University of Arts Linz and the painting department of the University of Applied Arts Vienna are on display. They were produced as part of a cooperation in the weaving workshop of the University of Arts Linz.

Warp painting is a technique that combines textile and painterly thinking. The warp threads are painted before the weft threads are inserted in the weaving process on the loom. Thus, in contrast to painting on canvas, the painting is incorporated directly into the structure of the canvas and questions its classic image carrier.

With works by Raihana Akbary, Anne Francien van den Berg, Naomi Shintani Deibel, Ilona Eidinger, Klara Fehsenmayr, Leonard Fendler-Moser, Carmen Fischnaller, Olga Mathilde Gärtner, Martha Hartmann, Daniela Kuich, Daria Kliui, Lie Chi Lee, Maya Calladine Lempelius, William Metin Martin, Aleks Mukovic, Eda Özkan, Arezou Shayesteh Sadafian, Raissa Senoner, Sveta Shuvaeva, Marlene Steiner, Kirstin Sutter, Karim Youssef

The days may be hot or rainy, the room small, the windows open or closed, you may be sweating, you may need a new shirt, you may need to sit down. Let go of the tension in your muscles. Listening to ambient music might be a good thing to do on a Friday night in late stressful June. The Oracle of Oida will be playing a one-hour mix while selling its last hand-printed limited edition of T-shirts. You might get a discount.
