Joint Creek is a special collaborative exhibition and publication project, kindly hosted by the exhibition space UA26. On the occasion of this show, students from the Painting and Sculpture departments at the University of Applied Arts Vienna have come together to curate, show their works and write texts.

In a seminar led by Chantal Kaufmann, the students discussed the selection of artworks, curatorial concepts and displays. This is the second consecutive show of the class, that specifically focuses on exhibition-making practices and displays in particular. The curatorial team, a smaller group of students, took over the task of developing a specific concept and the production of the show. The open call allows for each student who attended the course to showcase their works and for the curatorial team to deepen their understanding of working in a space.

Together with Nadja Abt, the students created an editorial office in another seminar. Here they wrote, edited and designed a publication about the respective works of their fellow artists. Free in form as independent text pieces, you will find poems, short stories, letters and recipes that are dedicated to the work of art. Joint Creek is thus not only the result of cheerful meetings on gray and cold days, but also of successful experimentation with the process of making decisions and selections together. In doing so, we experienced an extremely respectful cooperation in the recognition of each other's work.
