Warp Painting
June 26 – June 29, 2024; Painting department, University of Applied Arts Vienna

In the exhibition space warp painting works by students from the textile.art.design department of the University of Arts Linz and the painting department of the University of Applied Arts Vienna are on display. They were produced as part of a cooperation in the weaving workshop of the University of Arts Linz.

Warp painting is a technique that combines textile and painterly thinking. The warp threads are painted before the weft threads are inserted in the weaving process on the loom. Thus, in contrast to painting on canvas, the painting is incorporated directly into the structure of the canvas and questions its classic image carrier.

With works by Raihana Akbary, Anne Francien van den Berg, Naomi Shintani Deibel, Ilona Eidinger, Klara Fehsenmayr, Leonard Fendler-Moser, Carmen Fischnaller, Olga Mathilde Gärtner, Martha Hartmann, Daniela Kuich, Daria Kliui, Lie Chi Lee, Maya Calladine Lempelius, William Metin Martin, Aleks Mukovic, Eda Özkan, Arezou Shayesteh Sadafian, Raissa Senoner, Sveta Shuvaeva, Marlene Steiner, Kirstin Sutter, Karim Youssef
